I have an external hard drive hooked up to my torrent server which I use to transfer files back and forth. It's a relatively painless system, every night at 12:00 Déjà Vu copies my Torrents folder onto the drive so the next day I can just unplug it and have all my fresh tunes ready to import. I have only one issue: I never know if the drive is mounted or not. I could boot up VNC every time I wanted to check, but where's the fun in that? Instead, I decided to embed a little status light in my Clutch page that reflects the current status of my hard drive and allows me to eject it. Hooray for innovation!

I've spent the past few weeks turning my Clutch mockup into a fully functioning demo application. However, in that time I also found out that the newest version of Clutch (available through the Clutch subversion repository) will support the iPhone. This means that I will no longer continue to develop my Clutch interface as a web application.

Recently, I've set up a torrent server of sorts. I've got an old PowerPC G4 running DynDNS, Transmission, and a little app called Clutch. Clutch is a web interface for Transmission, in fact it looks quite a lot like the app itself: It's a full featured little portal, I've only one gripe: it doesn't work on the iPhone. Since I'm reasonably sure that all development on Clutch has stopped (I haven't even been able to get it up and running under Leopard just yet) I took the liberty of designing a little iPhone interface for myself. Keep in mind it's only a mockup at this point, but you can get a little bit of a preview here.

I've been working hard on Kaer β3 for the past few weeks, and I thought it might be a good idea to give a bit of a preview because there are some upcoming visual changes. I decided that before continuing on to more elements, I should try to perfect what I've got.
The new segment toolbar buttons have a more tactile feel, I've added an inset bevel and a slightly graded edge:
I've also been thinking about some new title bar widgets and a slightly tweaked window color:
And of course, some replacement mail "pill" buttons:
In the original Kaer β1, the menu bar selections were blue; I plan on bringing back some of those blue accents in upcoming updates. Here's the todo list for β3:
